His Excellency Dr. Musaed bin Muhammad Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Cybersecurity Authority, in his name and in the name of the members of the Board of Directors of the Authority and all its employees, expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and to His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense - may God protect them - on the occasion of the Cabinet's decision to approve the National Cybersecurity Strategy; Which confirms the great importance the Kingdom attaches to national cybersecurity, and its realization that it is a goal and a fundamental component of protecting the Kingdom's vital interests, critical infrastructure, priority sectors, government services and activities.
His Excellency affirmed that this approval is a great and important support for the national security system in general and cybersecurity in particular, considering security - in all its aspects - represents the starting point for development and prosperity to build a bright future.
In this regard, His Excellency pointed out that the Kingdom is moving in accordance with Vision 2030 towards affirming its regional and international position, developing its economic strength, and enhancing its international leadership, God willing, and that the vision of the National Cybersecurity Strategy represented by "a resilient, secure and trusted Saudi cyberspace that enables growth and prosperity" has made sure that Reflecting the ambition of the Kingdom in a balanced manner between security on the one hand. And growth and prosperity on the other hand; For this vision to be comprehensive and meet the Kingdom's needs, priorities and aspirations, and to contribute to protecting the technical and operational systems and critical infrastructure, and to enhance the confidence of national authorities, investors and individuals in the Saudi cyberspace.
His Excellency added that according to the responsibility of each party in the state for its cyber security, the strategy will establish a new stage in the process of cybersecurity and contribute to the establishment of an integrated national system for cybersecurity that enables national entities to raise their level of cyber security and protect their networks, systems, and electronic data and information, as it would support the development of cybersecurity principals and achieve a high level of maturity and professionalism in the practices.
It is noteworthy that the National Cybersecurity Authority has prepared the strategy and will supervise its implementation based on one of its most important tasks and mandates contained in its organization. The National Cybersecurity Strategy was designed according to a modern comprehensive methodology that examined the most prominent global and local cyber risks, with the participation of national authorities and specialists in this field in the Kingdom, and the development of a reference framework covering the most important aspects of cybersecurity, taking advantage of the best international practices and experiences, in a manner commensurate with the needs of The kingdom and its aspirations. This strategy will launch a set of initiatives and projects with specific timelines that can be measured by a set of key performance indicators, and in accordance with the objectives of integrated cyber security governance at the national level, effective management of cyber risks, protection of cyberspace, and strengthening of national technical capabilities in defense against cyber threats, in addition to To strengthen partnerships and cooperation in this field, build national human capacities and develop the cybersecurity industry in the Kingdom.
The strategy also identified three parallel tracks for its executive plan that will achieve tangible effects in the long term and quick gains in the short term, through work on high-return projects, the program to support national entities, in addition to implementing a number of national initiatives over a period of five years. The National Cybersecurity Authority will work to translate this national strategy into institutional work in an integrated manner with the relevant authorities, to reach a secure and trusted Saudi cyberspace that enables growth and prosperity.
