The National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) held three virtual cyber drills during the period from 2/6/1441 AH to 24/6/1441 AH (corresponding to January 28 to February 19, 2020), as part of its efforts to protect the national cybersecurity system. The drills aimed to ensure the Kingdom’s readiness to deal with cyber threats and risks in the future.
More than 20 cyber-incident response teams from various government agencies participated in the virtual drills - including teams from the telecommunications, health, aviation, electricity, water, financial and media sectors. The drills centered on a simulation of a virtual cyber incident, with teams following a framework of standardized procedures and responses. The primary aim of the exercises was to allow for an exchange of experiences and raise the level of readiness and coordination between the concerned authorities in the field of cybersecurity, as well as to ensure the application of the best standards in crisis management and incident response.
