NCA Releases Updated Version of the Saudi Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (SCyWF)

The National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) has released the updated version of the Saudi Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (SCyWF), which aims to support individuals and organizations in developing and planning cybersecurity careers and addressing the Kingdom’s cybersecurity workforce needs. The updated framework further enhances its comprehensiveness in developing and managing cybersecurity talent, contributing to strengthening cybersecurity at the national level. 

NCA explained that the updates include revised job role descriptions, a list of tasks, knowledge, and skills (TKS), and a list of competency areas. In addition, a supplementary Career Progression appendix has been introduced to outline professional development pathways in cybersecurity. These updates are based on international standards and global best practices in the field.

The Saudi Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (SCyWF) covers cybersecurity functions and job roles across the Kingdom, defining job categories and outlining the requirements for each role in terms of tasks, knowledge, skills, and competency areas. It also serves as a reference guide for developing, recruiting, and managing cybersecurity professionals, as well as identifying workforce and training needs in the field. The framework forms part of NCA’s strategic efforts to build national cybersecurity capabilities, contribute to the development of specialized education and training programs, and establish professional standards and related frameworks for the cybersecurity sector.
