In alignment with its ongoing efforts to advance the development of the cybersecurity sector, the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) conducted a workshop with key national entities from the public and private sectors. The workshop contributed to stimulating innovation in the cybersecurity industry ecosystem and was held under the “Innovation in Cybersecurity Industry Challenges Grants” initiative, which aims to address cybersecurity industry challenges across various sectors, develop innovative applied research, support opportunities for its adoption, and direct it toward cybersecurity national priority areas, thereby contributing to strengthening cybersecurity in the Kingdom.

During the workshop, the NCA outlined its comprehensive efforts to develop the Kingdom’s cybersecurity landscape, highlighting strategic initiatives designed to stimulate cybersecurity Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI). Discussions also centered on key enablers required to anticipate cyber threats, promote robust scientific research, and foster promising technological breakthroughs. A detailed overview was also presented on the national priority areas in cybersecurity: NextGen Cyber Defense, Cyber Resilience, Cyber-Physical Technologies and IoT, AI x Cyber, Cryptography and Quantum Security, Behavioral Cyber, Future of Cyber Threats and Attacks, and Cyber Order.

The “Innovation in Cybersecurity Industry Challenges Grants” initiative is part of the “National Program for Research, Development, and Innovation in Cybersecurity”. The program initiatives strengthen sustainable partnerships at the national and international levels, thereby contributing to enabling the RDI ecosystem in the cybersecurity sector in the Kingdom.
