The National Cybersecurity Authority Organizes a Workshop (Reinforcing Cybersecurity in Electricity Infrastructure)

The National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) has organized a virtual workshop titled “Reinforcing Cybersecurity in Electricity Infrastructure” on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, with the participation of many cybersecurity experts and specialists in the sectors of digital and electricity infrastructure. As well as the attendance of the electricity sector leaders, technicians and cybersecurity local and international experts.
The workshop began with an opening statement from the Deputy Governor of Policies and Standards, Alrebdi Alrebdi. In which he explained NCA’s role in reinforcing cybersecurity in the Kingdom through organizing panel discussions on global cybersecurity topics.
The workshop discussed the latest trends and developments in the electricity sector through a cybersecurity perspective. Among the attendants was Mr. Georges de Moura, Head of Industry Solutions in the World Economic Forum, Ms. Basmah aljedia, NCA’s Strategic Studies General Manager, Mr. Ahmed AlMuaythir, Managing Consultant at SITE, Ms. Sarah Balhamar, cybersecurity expert at the Saudi Electricity Company, Mr. Andrea Rigoni, global cyber lead for government and public services at Deloitte, Mr. Laurent Hausermann, Engineering Director of IoT Security at Cisco, and Mr. Jonathan Topp, chief developer of cybersecurity at Siemens.
The workshop’s themes focused on presenting the latest research for the cybersecurity status in the electricity field, the most prominent risks and challenges on the national and global level in the electricity field and the most important developments in cyber threats. As well as recommendations to reinforce cybersecurity and the experiences and opinions of local and international experts regarding cybersecurity reinforcement in the electricity field.
