
The National Cybersecurity Authority issued The Saudi Cybersecurity Higher Education Framework (SCyber-Edu), which was prepared In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, and Education & Training Evaluation Commission.
This framework contributes to building and developing high-quality academic programs in cybersecurity that are in line with the national need in the job market, and contribute to bridging the gap in this field.
The Saudi Cybersecurity Higher Education Framework is a reference guide for the development, evaluation and accreditation of higher education programs in cybersecurity, and it is part of the efforts of the National Cybersecurity Authority in building national capabilities specialized in the fields of cybersecurity, participating in preparing its educational and training programs, and preparing professional standards and frameworks related to it. This framework sets the minimum requirements for study plans for higher education programs in cybersecurity, which include diplomas, bachelor's, higher diplomas, masters and doctorates; to ensure the academic quality of these programs, and to support the graduation of highly qualified national capabilities in cybersecurity who are able to contribute to creating a “Resilient , Secure and Trusted Saudi cyberspace that enables growth and prosperity”. This framework supports the expansion and diversification of cybersecurity programs in Saudi universities and colleges, in order to meet the national need for specialists in this field.
Experts and specialists from the National Cybersecurity Authority, Ministry of Education, Education & Training Evaluation Commission and a number of Saudi universities participated in the preparation of this framework, and it was prepared after studying best practices and global trends in this context, and in line with the national need in this field.
It is worth noting that the National Cybersecurity Authority had previously issued the Saudi Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (SCyWF), which categorizes cybersecurity jobs in the Kingdom, and defines their categories, areas of specialization, their respective job roles, and the knowledge, skills and capabilities required for each of them.
