The Kingdom came in second globally on the index of constant development of cybersecurity for institutions, in the annual competitive international report.
The competition included 63 of the most competitive countries in the world. The report has also shown that the Kingdom’s ranking has advanced from 26th to 24th; the Kingdom has also moved up on the ranking of infrastructure elevated from 38th to 36th.
The report highlights the Kingdom’s efforts, through applying reform within the business environment, governmental initiatives and programs aiming to achieve the country’s 2030 vision, programs to increase the level of competitiveness within the Kingdom and its appeal.
It also sheds light on the support shown by the leadership to the Kingdom’s cybersecurity efforts, and to the NCA; which aids it to fulfill its role. Supporting both governmental and private sectors in finding a resilient, secure, and trusted cyberspace that enables growth and prosperity, through encouraging cooperation and joint efforts with the national entities, which positively impacted in reinforcing and developing the power of the Saudi economy.
NCA has worked tirelessly to implement policies, governance mechanisms, frameworks, standards, controls and cybersecurity guidelines, and circulated them to the relevant entities. Constantly reviewing compliance, provided updates to the guidelines, built capabilities, put together cybersecurity performance indexes. Continuously monitoring the state of cybersecurity in the Kingdom on both national and sectoral levels, encouraging the growth of the field of cybersecurity.
This report aims to analyze countries’ capabilities of finding an environment that is supportive and provides competitive incentives, and then maintaining this environment and developing it. The annual global competitive report is considered one of the most comprehensive competitive reports internationally, as it compares 63 countries based on four main aspects: economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure.
It is worth stating that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has advanced in the Global Cybersecurity Index, which is conducted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and linked to the United Nations. Where the Kingdom’s ranking shot from the 46th rank back in 2016 to the 13th around the globe in 2018, and the 1st in the Arab world.
