SAUDI CERT launches a campaign targeting Non-Governmental Organizations and civil society

As part of its continuous efforts to raise the community’s cybersecurity awareness, SAUDI CERT continued its campaign targeting the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other civil society entities. This comes in acknowledgement of the importance of this segment of society, due to its shortage of resources.
Key non-profit organizations participated in the campaign, most notably King Khalid Foundation as the main participating of the campaign which has a wide reach to all NGOs within the kingdom, and the CEO of the foundation will be the chair of the C20 engagement group during the Saudi Presidency year of the G20.
The campaign focused on key topics relevant to the targeted audience such as securing devices and networks, social engineering, online phasing and data protection. Materials were disseminated to over 800 non-profit organization within the Kingdom this included awareness posters, videos and several other documents targeting NGOs employees as they are the first line of defense.
Coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic, the SAUDI CERT published a guide book let on secure remote working, the guide included various important topics including but not limited to: introduction to the new remote working environment, setting it safely, securing your home network, cybersecurity best practices for collaborative working platforms and remote working which will help safeguarding remote working for NGOs and civil society organizations.

The SAUDI CERT is working on elevating the public’s knowledge and awareness in cybersecurity, to reduce cyber risks and reducing its impact through publishing alerts notes of the latest vulnerabilities, launching awareness campaigns and programs, in addition to partnering with other international CERTs.
